Iglesia Bautista “El Calvario” in Havana, Cuba
Abel & Gretchen Morales have been married for 25 years. They have one daughter, Gabriela (21 years old) and a son, Ismael (16 years old). Both Abel and Gretchen received our Lord Jesus Saviour over 29 years ago. Since then they’ve been learning, working and involved in God’s work. They were previously at Bethel Baptist Church for over 24 years working in many areas that included evangelism, discipleship, stewardship, bible teaching but were mostly involved and leading Youth Ministry.
Abel studied in the Western Cuban Baptist Seminary in the 90`s and was trained by Word of Life Ministries 2010-2013.
They moved to Calvary Church in Old Havana in 2014.
Abel is part of many ministry missions which include Evangelism, Discipleship, House Churches and Church Planting. He is a member of the Western Baptist Mission Board. Gretchen is part of the Worship and Children’s Ministries. Gabriela is also part of the Worship Ministry and is leading the Church Dance Ministry. Ismael is part of the Children’s Ministry called Super Book.
Calvary Church is located in the middle of the two most crowded municipalities of Cuba, Old Havana and Havana Center with more than 300,000 people. These municipalities are divided in 12 small towns. The Church has set the missionary work in three main districts; North Old Havana, South Old Havana and Havana Center.
Their vision is to evangelize and disciple as many as the Lord gives them and start House Churches to reach the community so they can plant conciliated churches in every small town. They would like for those new churches to have the same vision of keep on working and planting other churches, reaching the community for Christ.
Philippians 4:17 Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account.
